Issue indexing Large PDF
« on: October 07, 2015, 12:16:27 PM »
CMOD 8.5.0.6, DB2 9.5, TSM..

Normally these PDF's index with no issue but for some reason this one is causing us some headaches. The file is around 800 Megs and we have indexed several that were in the 1GB territory. However, there is one strangler that is failing on us.

ARS4902 Number of input pages = 160318
ARS4919 Word search or extraction error
ARS4923 ArspSearchDocPages error code 536936462 Expected a dict object.
ARS4922 ARSPDOCI completed code 4

IBM's solution is to upgrade to 8.5.0.7   I am just wondering if anyone has seen this and what the fix may be, I have not been able to find anything on the web about it.

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I don't know what is the problem, the latest fix pack for V8.5 is V8.5.0.10, therefore asking you to upgrade to V8.5.0.7 means that there is really a correction behind.

If you look at the readme of V8.5.0.7 http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21634767, you will be able to see the following:

  • PM74182 - PDF IDX MASK w/"%" can't find FIELD w/trailing blanks
  • PM75386 - PDF library fails writing temporary files to memory
  • PM86531 - Enable PDF lib initialization options to prevent repeating
  • PM81071 - PDF docs not retrieved if ARSSOCKD started in "/" on AIX

So what is exactly the problem you are facing? I have no clue, but probably this one: PM75386.

Ask the IBM Support for more explanation.

CMOD V8.5.0.6 is more than 2 years old, my advice for you will be to update CMOD in a regular basis if possible. And upgrade when you want the latest functionality or when you need to upgrade, because of End Of Support.

For your information CMOD V8.5 has a date for end of support, which is end of April 2016. Don't wait too much :-)

Just seconding the move to 8.5.0.10 -- we've moved to that version at customer sites for non-PDF related bug fixes, and have found it to be stable.
