Title: Blank AFP file
Post by: DDP021 on December 01, 2016, 05:37:10 AM
We're attempting to load an AFP file with TLE records..The file is indexed...It shows its loaded to indexes but when you go to open either, all you see is a blank page for each...Not sure why the data isn't being displayed in the Thick viewer...But when attempting to open it in webi, it defaults to a bookmark and shows all the TLE records...Any idea why this would be happening?..Points to a bad data file but was looking for info to give to programmer who sent the file.

Consider opening the original file with afpdmp (requires InfoPrint) or the arsafpd tool (if you're on v9.0 or higher) in order to get some insight into what's inside the file.

Thanks Justin...we're leaning toward it being an issue with the input file....We reached out to the application area to re-create the file and retry...What was strange was we've had issue before with files themselve but it caused failures when loading..This file loaded fine, and even showed it indexed correctly...Just wasn't displaying anything when opening each index...

Are you using an index parameter file for the indicies ?  We had a similar problem a few years back when we had a vendor start sending credit card statements as PDF instead of AFP.  Our problem was they used the wrong codepage in the .IND file (binary vs ascii if I remember correctly).

We just had them change the codepage in the .ind file and reloaded the data and it was then viewable.
