Title: Removing Trailing Spaces
Post by: JimWilson on June 04, 2008, 12:14:05 PM
I indexed a report and indexed a Name filed
I used the Application Group DB Name for the names then click in the Character Removal - Trailing box. Then press the space bar; this put a square in the box.
Then I loaded the report. I could not tell if this worked.
I used the client software brought up the report and keyed in a name which is in the report. This brought up the page with this name on it.
I did the same thing with the same name and added 5 spaces after the name, this also brought up the page with this name on it.
Is the Removal of Training Spaces suppose to remove spaces???
I have A Windows system running OnDemand 8.4
This does work when I remove Leading spaces ' such as a number field that was right justified'.

I'd hope the client is ignoring the trailing spaces in your search box.

Can you look in the System Log for your query and see if the trailing spaces are included in the search criteria? I bet they're not and the remove function is working fine..

Update: I just tested this myself and when the Wild Card Append is NOT checked the trailing spaces are ignored for a search field value.

Hi all,

I had this problem before, I removed the spaces with the character "@".

Hope this helps.
