MP Server / Re: SSAM and arsload

Thx JD.

In our current TSM setup (non-SSAM) we use a regular disk storage pool. Does the rules which you are referring to also apply for these kind of storage pools?

Michel.

Hi all,

Question about CMOD in combination with SSAM (System Storage Archive Manager)

At the moment we are not using SSAM but the regular TSM server.

When i store a document with arsload it can happen that part of the store fails.
Because we use the parameter -f with arsload it will unload the data from db2 , but will it also delete the already stored documents in the regular TSM storage pool? And when we use SSAM (will install this in a few weeks time) what is the behaviour with failed loads?

thx , Michel.

MP Server / Re: Reload AFP Data
« on: January 06, 2011, 06:43:10 AM »
Ok Thx JD.

1 thing is not clear to me now  :-\

You say: CMOD will expire records based on the CURRENT settings of the Life Of Data And Indexes parameter
Does arsmaint check the archiving date of the loaded document and compare it with the Life Of Data And Indexes parameter and based on that it will expire objects and indexes?

One other question: When i have a expiration type of segment, does it als unloads objects from the cache and TSM? According you my system log it only expires the segment in DB2.

Thx again,

Michel.

Once again thx Pankaj.

Final question.

You talk about cache expiration. But what about the DB2 indexes and data. When is that deleted?
arsmaint does this job. what is the trigger for arsmaint to delete db2 information? Does arsmaint look at "Life of data and indexes" or does it looks at another parameter?

Thx

Michel.

Pankaj,

One final question about changing the life of data and indexes parameter.
At the moment for the AG this is set to: 7 YEARS. You say , when you change this parameter to never expired, this setting applies also to allready loaded documents. When i change 7 YEARS to 10 YEARS , does this have the same impact?

Kind regards,

Michel.

Thx Justin,

I thought changing the life of data and indexes parameter would only impact newly loaded documents. Now it seems that changing this parameter will also effect allready loaded files (can you confirm this) so i do not have to reload the AFP documents.

Thx anyway.

Michel.

Thx Pankaj for your quick response.

I have always understood that changing the life of data and indexex parameter was only for new to be loaded documents, not for the existing ones.

1) From a CMOD standpoint, you can use option of "Never Expire" under "Life of Data and Indexes" in the "Storage Management" settings of application group. This setting is retro-active. So, any data that was previous loaded will also be retained indefinitely.

But
if this is OK , then i am happy.

Greetings, Michel.

MP Server / Reload AFP Data
« on: January 04, 2011, 05:37:17 AM »
Hi All

Is there a way to reload AFP data? The reason is that at the moment AFP documents are loaded with an expiration time of 7 years. This should be 10 years. The TSM MGMTCLASS has a retention of 11 years.

I have tried it with arsdoc get. But that output cannot be reloaded in CMOD because the ind file is not correct.
It gives the message:
Invalid structured field header in the file markiemark.afp.2.P121.P121 - Coil Met Tests.ind
Loaded 0 rows into the database

I have noticed in de DB2 Tables there is a table called archive_date. This is the date which reflects the time of archiving the AFP document. Can this tables be updated with a new date? For instance change 08/12/2007 into 08/12/2010?

If this can be done then arsmaint will start deleting documents after 10 years instead of 7.

Or is there another way to reload AFP documents?

Thanx in advance for your help.

Kind regards,

Michel de Kraker

MP Server / TSM and expired documents
« on: November 01, 2010, 07:03:17 AM »
Hi All,

arsmaint deleted db2 segments. data is still in TSM (did a query on the filespace for the application group)

Is it possible to retrieve the TSM data en load it again in CMOD?

Thx.

Michel.

UPDATE 02-11-2010: I see the data in TSM. I can restore the filespace with the documents in it. But DB2 tables are empty. So can i load those documents which i retrieved from TSM back in ONDEMAND?

Hi All,

I want to setup monitoring on the object server which is part of the DR550. Is HP Openview agent supported to be installed on this AIX system. Installation guides only mentions IBM Director.

Thx for your reply.

Kind regards,

Michel.

Hi all

This weekend we upgraded our CMOD 8.3 environment to version 8.4.0 (Fixpack 3) on AIX.
Prior to this update , any load failure was also redirected to the conslog (var/adm/ras/conslog)

But now , after the upgrade , not any more.

Anyone a idea?

Thx.

Michel de Kraker.
