Title: ODWEK middletier
Post by: niniIsayas on April 23, 2018, 01:12:05 PM
Hi All,

I have a current set up which contains a browser with document indexes that allows the user to retrieve their documents through CGI scripts. We are upgrading to the Java API and I wanted to know if we will need a web application server such as Tomcat or WebSphere to link the front end and OD.

Regards,

Hello,

this is maybe too late for you and an answer, but it could be helpful for others.

So yes and no. but most probably yes.

Since the ODWEK API are in Java today, the most logical choice is to use an application server like tomcat, websphere, jboss, etc...

You still have the possibility to create a CGI in java, but the performance won't be great... so my advice would really be to go to the application server road.
