Hello CMOD Community,

The IBM CMOD Introduction and Planning Guide SC19-3365-00 for V9R0M0 says "OnDemand requires a segment field for each application group that you define."

"The segment field must be one of" these:  Report Date or the Load Date

Alas, when I create these Fields as Indexes with a Data Type of Date, the Segment box is not highlighted therefore it cannot be checked in order to specify that field as a Segment.

No other fields in this application group have the Segment box checked.  Why am I not being allowed to add the required Segmented field???  :-\

Please reply and tell me how to accomplish this.

Thank you.

z/OS Server / ARSPTGN and CA-ACF2
« on: May 09, 2016, 06:55:52 AM »
Hello CMOD Community,

1.  In which IBM distribution library is the sample Source kept for the ARS.PTGN exit?

I have found the sample ARSPTGN object code in library:  ARS.CMOD.AARSOBJ1

I have found the sample load module code in library:  ARS.CMOD.SARSLOAD

There is no sample source code found in AIO.CMOD.SAIOSAMP nor AIO.CMOD.AAIOSAMP.

(We have no libraries named ARS.CMOD.SAIOSAMP nor ARS.CMOD.AAIOSAMP.)

In which IBM target or distribution library is the ARSPTGN source code?

2.  Assuming the sample source is located, has anyone converted this from RACF to CA-ACF2 ?

Please share your advice and experience.

Thanks,

WEBI interface / WEBI Zoom for Data Viewer Applet
« on: March 23, 2016, 09:34:24 AM »
Hello CMOD Community,

We are using IBM Content Navigator web client to do searches.

When we choose a document to view from the hit list, the IBM OnDemand Line Data View Applet, Version 9.0.0.3 opens up.

The document is a standard 133 column wide mainframe line printer listing.

In order to make both the left and right margins visible simultaneously, i.e. without using the horizontal slider, we must maximize the applet window, then choose the magnifying glass icon and set zoom to a custom setting of 67%.

Is there any way to make the default zoom setting for this applet be 67 per cent ???

I have toyed with the horizontal and vertical split screen icons, and those do not help here.

Let me know if there is a patch or option somewhere.

If not, let me know ifyou recommend this be submitted as an Enhancement Request.

Thanks,

WEBI interface / ICN and Java - Client Compatibility
« on: November 20, 2015, 08:45:05 AM »
CMOD Forum Participants,

Java Technology Edition is in the jre folder under the ECMClient directory on our ICN server, a Windows server.

According to the readmefirst.win32 file, this is Java Technology Edition Version 6.

Many of our end-user web clients are running Java Version 8 in their client PC.

Our end-users invoke Microsoft Viewer to display listings found in a hit list, using their ICN-connected browser session.

As Microsoft Viewer is a Java application, there is a chance this may fail if the underlying support changes.  Thus far, it works!

How do we make sure the Java running under ECMClient on our ICN server is compatible with the Java Runtime Edition on end-user client PC's ???

Must we constantly be applying Fix Packs to our ICN ECMClient 2.0.2 ???

Thank you in advance for your comments.

Tips and Tricks / ICN Manuals and DB2 Applications
« on: June 30, 2015, 12:47:11 PM »
Hi Folks,

ICN is the IBM Content Navigator.

Where are IBM's manuals for ICN ?  What is their serial number, e.g. GCxx-yyyy-zz.

ICN provides a web-ified Search engine against CMOD folders.

IBM says ICN is their "out of the box" solution.

If so, then does that mean there are no ICN manuals available?

Is ICN part of ODWEK?  Does ODWEK documentation contain ICN documentation?

We want to find out:  What DB2 applications are used by ICN when building a Search .

This would enable us to learn the internal logic of the ICN.  It may help us to predict and tune execution characteristics.

Thanks.

Windows Client / How To Interrupt Hit List when No Limit
« on: June 19, 2015, 08:49:15 AM »
Hello All,

Can someone tell me what key(s) to press when running the CMOD Windows Client,
when doing a Search for which that user has Maximum Hits set to No Limit, and the list
of hits is so large that one wants to interrupt the Search,

What keyboard key(s) are pressed to interrupt a long running Search?

Which IBM manual is that information found in?

Much obliged,

P. M.

Tips and Tricks / Between Floating Date Values
« on: September 19, 2014, 07:27:03 AM »
Hello,

I have a Searchable field that is Required.  This is defined in the Administrative Client for a Folder definition.

The field is searchable Between a pair of Minimum and Maximum dates.

I want the Minimum and Maximum dates to "float", i.e as time marches forward, the Minimum and Maximum dates should be incremented automatically.  I do not wan to hard-code these dates.

How can I symbolically code the Minimum and Maximum dates in a Required range so that Between always uses the latest pair of floating dates as the Default?

Thanks.

Paul M.
