https://community.ibm.com/community/user/automation/events/event-description?CalendarEventKey=831e106c-01e8-4d86-aa38-9e43ad8b743d&CommunityKey=2b67f465-a5fe-4a66-ad25-f5e767b607e3

Working from home has its advantages, but sometimes, in-person is the only way to go. Following on from last years CMOD Virtual Workshop series, I'm delighted to announce that we are bringing back in-person CMOD Technical Workshops starting with a session in Chicago on September 27-28, 2022.  All being well we plan to have more in-person workshops in 2023 (dates and locations to be determined).

What is the CMOD Technical Workshop?
This is a 1.5 Day Free event, where we present best practices, roadmap, how to’s, and open conversations with your Peers, SMEs, Development and Product Management. This doesn’t replace formal training, but is an excellent event for seasoned CMOD users, folks new to CMOD and those evaluating CMOD.

Cost?
It’s Free to attend. Clients are responsible to cover their own travel expenses. IBM and our Partners will cover lunch and a social event on Tuesday night.

Where?
IBM Chicago Office in the Hyatt Center at 71 South Wacker Drive.

When?
Tuesday, September 27 – 8:45 AM – 4:30 PM (followed by an Evening Event)
Wednesday, September 28 – 8:45 AM – 3:00 PM

For everyone upgrading to 10.5 on z/OS - make sure you're referring to the z/OS 10.5 Upgrade Readme file located here:

https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ibm-content-manager-ondemand-zos-v105-readme

This is separate from the multiplat server and client readmes which are published one-for-every-fixpack available here:

This has worked for others:

You can try to reclaim space by either REORGing or perhaps allocating the tablespace with COMPRESS YES.

z/OS Server / Re: Recommended DB2 on z/OS Service, V12
« on: June 03, 2022, 08:29:47 AM »
Saw this today and thought it might be of interest:

PH29392: NEW FUNCTION
.
https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/apar/PH29392
.
This APAR introduces NEW Function, for Level 508. This is the Function that affects MQ as well.

From the DB2 V12 documentation:

* Function level 508 (V12R1M508) introduces support for moving tables from deprecated multi-table simple and multi-table segmented table spaces to partition-by-growth universal table spaces (UTS), without taking an outage, to improve application and database operations and performance.
It is the introduction of UTS Tablespaces that affects MQ, because MQ will need to migrate all simple Tablespaces to UTS format.

Abstract

The Content Manager OnDemand Full Text Search feature installer (in versions 9.5, 10.1, and 10.5) is an install wrapper of the IBM ECM TextSearch installer.

When installing the Content Manager OnDemand Full Text Search feature, both installers will default to a directory containing the version number.

If you already have a previous version of the Content Manager OnDemand Full Text Search feature, the new version’s installation will become a new install and no data will be migrated from the previous version.

Do not uninstall the previous version or begin indexing to the new version before taking the steps described later in this document.

Noting that although this thread hasn't been updated in over a year, it's still being maintained.

Just nothing new under the sun.

Make sure you have all of those z/OS system parameters that improve Db2 performance integrated when rolling out the next release of z/OS.

Hail to the newer members of the Level 2 Support team!

In India, we have picked up Akshay Sai because of the increase in customers spanning Europe and Asia.

Here in the USA Tam Phan has joined the Level 2 support team.  Some of you may already know Tam from his CM days.

Sadly - with a heavy heart we have also parted ways with some long-time Level 2 reps.

From the UK team, Chris Holden has retired.

And on the USA side, Wenying (Eleanor) Andreesen has also retired.

Ryan Fuerstenau has left Level 2 support to pursue other opportunities.

Other than that, it's the same ol', same ol' Level 2 support specialists you've come to know lo these many years.   ;D

MP Server / Re: arsjesd broken in 10.5.0.4
« on: April 25, 2022, 10:40:55 AM »
I'm running the 10.5.0.1 in 10.5.0.4 as a fix provided by IBM.

That is the official workaround.

Dev has also created a standalone 10.5.0.1 arsjesd that one can download and unzip/untar.

If interested, open a problem record.

Hi, revert back i assume meaning changing the executable instance(service) back to previous path 10.1 in registry(regedit)

I'm a z guy.  How to effect switching levels of CMOD in Windows I'll have to leave to someone else.

Can't answer your question but want to say that information is no longer accurate for the latest versions of CMOD.

10.1 and 10.5 can both operate on the same underlying CMOD tables interchangeably.

What that means is say you upgrade from 10.1 to 10.5 and you have a problem, no need to uninstall anything, just revert back to pointing to the 10.1 executable code.

In Marna Walle's 2.5 migration presentation she stated that 2.4 is the last level to support HFS.

Here's the text accompanying the slide deck of her presentation.

Quote
z/OS 2.4 is the last release of the operating system to support the HFS (Hierarchical File System) data structure used by the z/OS UNIX environment.

IBM has provided equivalent if not superior functionality with the z/OS File System (zFS).

Customers should migrate from HFS to zFS using the utilities provided in the operating system to convert their entire file system hierarchy.
