Title: Version 9.5 with Spectrum Protect
Post by: jsquizz on December 07, 2018, 07:47:07 AM
Does anyone have experience (or even know if it will work), running the following-

CMOD 9.5 + Spectrum Protect (Storage pools setup for IBM Cloud object storage?)

From what i am reading, if we wanted to load directly from CMOD to Cloud object storage, we would need 10.1..

I am unsure if 9.5 supports 8.1 spectrum protect or vice versa. does anyone have input on this?

Usually for most of the CMOD requisites, any version higher than what's mentioned in the README docs is supported.  But, as always, "unique" or "interesting" configurations need to be tested out thoroughly before being promoted to production.  :)

I *will* wonder aloud if running an entire TSM server just to avoid upgrading to v10.1 is a wise decision long term though...  :D

I think you need to get on 10.1.

Reason:

V10.1

If you go here:

https://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27049167 (https://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27049167)

Then click on the link to render the chart and select the Prerequisites tab and then go down to the bottom you'll see Spectrum Connect 8.1 listed.

V9.5

If you go here:

https://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27043162 (https://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27043162)

Then click on the link to render the chart, select the 9.5.0.12 pulldown, then select the Prerequisites tab and then go down to the bottom you see
IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Client 6.4 and future fix packs.

Future fix packs, not future releases.

And of course as soon as I made the previous append I found this:

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?crawler=1&uid=swg1PI94940 (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?crawler=1&uid=swg1PI94940)

That says that 9.5.0.11 fixed a problem with Spectrum 8.1.

So it looks like 9.5 is supported.

Thank you all.

This is not a long-term thing, for now..
