Title: JES Extractor
Post by: chuckalugk on July 25, 2019, 03:40:30 AM
I was told I need to install the JES Extractor.   Is that separate software from CMOD?

If you are running CMOD on Z/OS, then you might be looking for the ARSYSPIN which is included with the base CMOD server.
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSQHWE_9.5.0/com.ibm.ondemand.administeringzos.doc/doday000.htm

If you are running CMOD on a different platform then I believe a 3rd party company will sell you a tool to perform JES2 extractions and push down to your distributed CMOD.

If you are running CMOD on non-mainframe, and your reports are generated in JES on the mainframe side, you need to work with your MVS systems Programmer to find out the options and whether you are entitled to use MVS Download. If so, your system programmer needs to set up a started task to push the reports to your system via MVS Download.

On the server side you will configure arsjesd to receive  files sent by MVS Download.

There may be other alternatives but this is a very reliable and fast method to move files to non-mainframe platform from JES SPOOL.

Just adding that arsjesd is very popular.

Note:  arsjesd comes from the Print Services Facility (PSF) product - is neither developed nor shipped nor supported by the Content Manager OnDemand organization.

arsjesd is the only deliverable that starts with the letters "ars" but doesn't come from CMOD.

We worked with IBM/Helix, and Helix has a MARSSPLX task that sends the report to CMOD and requeues it back to JES where it gets sent to EOS.
