Title: Is it possible to deactivate Help - About in the windows client?

hi

we run windows client v. 10.5.0.5 - and the server on z/OS.

Is it in anyway possible to customize the client so the Help - About - is not available?  I have tried to look in the installation guide but didn't find anything about that.

I have got a penetration test finding because it is possible to use Help - About to see the version.

Any kind of help will be appreciated.

It is possible to customize the About dialog box. See the 2Q214 OnDemand Newsletter, page 4. The newsletters are available here:

It is also possible to not have the splash screen displayed when the client starts. See the OnDemand documentation for details:

thanks for the replies.

But Darrell - if I have understood the manual correct - the setting of the SHOWLOGO to 0 will only prevent the splash from being shown - but it doesn't remove the ability of using Help - About - so for that I need to make a product.inf file which can 'overrule' the normal 'About' screen, right?

I will try to test it - but as we have the Client on a citrix solution and we are not allowed to be local admin on our computers - it takes a bit more effort ....

Hi Helle,

The splash screen shows the major version (10.5) but not the fix pack level.
You need to create the product.inf file to prevent the standard About panel from displaying.
Also, when logged on the client displays the server version & fix pack on the Status bar at the bottom of the screen. This can be set on or off from the client. From the menu select Options > Display Server on Status Bar.
