Team,

Yes, I used Greg Ira's suggestion, and it is true.

I deleted the bad AG, and created a new one.  I was able to define the chosen Date field as a Segment right at the outset, before ever saving that new AG.

This resolves my issue.

Thank you all!

Yes, there could be something amiss.  Let me know what that might be.

Our other Application Groups each have one Field that is defined with the Segment option.

For this new Application Group, there are as yet no Applications or Folders created that would use it.  So, there should be nothing in the way.

It makes no difference whether I say "Single load per database table" or "Multiple loads per database table".  Still cannot turn on the Segment option for either of the two Date FIELDs defined in this AG.

I could COPY one of our existing Application Groups, and save it under a new name.  This would provide a Date FIELD with segment turned on.  However, that would mean accepting the FIELD names from that progenitor Application Group, and I would rather create new FIELDs with more appropriate names.  Still, those FIELD names from the progenitor AG could be used, to satisfy the requirements of this new Application, and that is my Plan B if no one has an answer.

Please try this yourself, and let me know if it allows you to check the Segment box.

This is the Wiz speaking.

Yes I am a full CMOD System Administrator and we are running CMOD V9R0M0.

The system is running several production applications and I am now developing new applications using the OnDemand Administrative client.

Though I have defined a FIELD named Date_Processed with Type Index and a Data Type of DATE in a new Application Group, the Field Information tab does not allow me to check the Segment box.

The Log, User Exit, Reference, and Updateable boxes can be checked, though I do not need those.

Why is the Segment box grayed-out, meaning it cannot be checked?  I have no other FIELDs defined with the Segment box checked in this AG, and the manual says at least one FIELD must be defined as Segment.

How can I get the CMOD Administrative client to allow me to check the Segment box for this DATE FIELD?

in corollary, how can I get that FIELD to list as Segment YES in the Summary report?

Hello CMOD Community,

The IBM CMOD Introduction and Planning Guide SC19-3365-00 for V9R0M0 says "OnDemand requires a segment field for each application group that you define."

"The segment field must be one of" these:  Report Date or the Load Date

Alas, when I create these Fields as Indexes with a Data Type of Date, the Segment box is not highlighted therefore it cannot be checked in order to specify that field as a Segment.

No other fields in this application group have the Segment box checked.  Why am I not being allowed to add the required Segmented field???  :-\

Please reply and tell me how to accomplish this.

Thank you.

CMOD Community,

The Configuration Guide, Chapter 39 says,

Assembler source member ARSPTGN is in the SARSINST library.  It is not present in ours.  Has it been moved elsewhere?

CMOD Community:

From the Configuration Guide, Chapter 39,

Member ARSXPTGN in library ARS.CMOD.SARSINST contains the source, as a Macro definition.

Hello CMOD Community,

1.  In which IBM distribution library is the sample Source kept for the ARS.PTGN exit?

I have found the sample ARSPTGN object code in library:  ARS.CMOD.AARSOBJ1

I have found the sample load module code in library:  ARS.CMOD.SARSLOAD

There is no sample source code found in AIO.CMOD.SAIOSAMP nor AIO.CMOD.AAIOSAMP.

(We have no libraries named ARS.CMOD.SAIOSAMP nor ARS.CMOD.AAIOSAMP.)

In which IBM target or distribution library is the ARSPTGN source code?

2.  Assuming the sample source is located, has anyone converted this from RACF to CA-ACF2 ?

Please share your advice and experience.

Thanks,

WEBI interface / Re: WEBI Zoom for Data Viewer Applet
« on: April 08, 2016, 11:56:24 AM »
CMOD / ICN Community:

I invite your replies to this topic, no matter how inconsequential.

My main concern is:  do I have it all wrong?   :-\ Should I already know what to do?

Let me hear it!   :'(

I wish the Java source were supplied, but apparently it is not.

Shall this posting be converted into an IBM enhancement request to CMOD / ICN ?

Sincerely,

CMODWiz

This topic should have been entitled, Zoom for Data Viewer Applet in ICN.

Hello CMOD Community,

Some more thoughts:

1.  Does IBM provide the JAVA source code for their IBM OnDemand Line Data View Applet 9.0.0.3             ???

If so, then perhaps we could modify it and recreate the executable applet to suit our needs.

If not, then:

2.  Is a licensed CMOD/ICN/ODWEK shop expected to use the ODWEK API to develop their own Viewer to suit their particular needs?

If no to both of the above, then this ought to be an Enhancement Request for IBM to act upon.

Thanks,

WEBI interface / WEBI Zoom for Data Viewer Applet
« on: March 23, 2016, 09:34:24 AM »
Hello CMOD Community,

We are using IBM Content Navigator web client to do searches.

When we choose a document to view from the hit list, the IBM OnDemand Line Data View Applet, Version 9.0.0.3 opens up.

The document is a standard 133 column wide mainframe line printer listing.

In order to make both the left and right margins visible simultaneously, i.e. without using the horizontal slider, we must maximize the applet window, then choose the magnifying glass icon and set zoom to a custom setting of 67%.

Is there any way to make the default zoom setting for this applet be 67 per cent ???

I have toyed with the horizontal and vertical split screen icons, and those do not help here.

Let me know if there is a patch or option somewhere.

If not, let me know ifyou recommend this be submitted as an Enhancement Request.

Thanks,

CMODWiz

WEBI interface / Re: ICN and Java - Client Compatibility
« on: November 20, 2015, 11:03:32 AM »
Fellow Participants,

I have referenced our ICN Ping page, and dumped release information.

Our ICN is indeed 2.0.2 and our ICN server uses JRE 1.6 (Hence this is "Release 6").

However, our end-user clients have JRE Release 8 and so far the Microsoft Viewer applet is working!

At one time, Microsoft Viewer was not working.  Then it started working again.

This is not due to the different releases of Java, but because our ICN servers are running on Virutalized Windows hosts, i.e. under VMWare.

I believe that our ICN server Hosts got their Java pages paged out, and could not come in soon enough.  Just got a generalized "Java Error" on the client PC.  But I believe this had to be a timeout.

Java now in frequent enough usage to keep those pages resident, hence no more timeouts between client and server starting Microsoft Viewer.

Comments?

Fellow Participants,

I shall reply to my own Posting.  Feel free to add your comments as well.

The reference entitled Planning, Installing, and Configuring IBM Content Navigator has a topic named "Administering clientmachines for IBM Content Navigator".

This says you must "...install the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) software on the client machines".

It further says, "...the JRE software must be configured to never automatically update because it can update to a new release that is not supported".

Aha!  This seems to imply that end-users may need dedicated PC hosts for the IBM web client, otherwise Java may fail.

On the other hand, those end users would not be using the latest Java available, which may be required by all of their other web applications.  What to do?

WEBI interface / ICN and Java - Client Compatibility
« on: November 20, 2015, 08:45:05 AM »
CMOD Forum Participants,

Java Technology Edition is in the jre folder under the ECMClient directory on our ICN server, a Windows server.

According to the readmefirst.win32 file, this is Java Technology Edition Version 6.

Many of our end-user web clients are running Java Version 8 in their client PC.

Our end-users invoke Microsoft Viewer to display listings found in a hit list, using their ICN-connected browser session.

As Microsoft Viewer is a Java application, there is a chance this may fail if the underlying support changes.  Thus far, it works!

How do we make sure the Java running under ECMClient on our ICN server is compatible with the Java Runtime Edition on end-user client PC's ???

Must we constantly be applying Fix Packs to our ICN ECMClient 2.0.2 ???

Thank you in advance for your comments.
