Hello Migrating from CMOD Z/OS to Multiplatform.
Plan is to extract documents (AFP) and load to target CMOD.

Has any one done comparison of "arsadmin retrieve" vs "arsdoc getdoc" by Loadid. I would like to know which one is MIPS (Z/OS  CPU) efficient and other performance and time consideration.

Current CMOD Z/OS 10.1 with multiple years of documents archived to OAM managed DASD and after x number of years migrated to OAM managed TAPE.

Any feed back is appreciated.

MP Server / Implied Hold vs HOLD -Any drawback?
« on: February 27, 2018, 10:52:43 AM »
Has a requirement to apply hold for all documents and release at document level when certain event happens. Also, reload should happen when certain percentage of docs are out of hold and met the retention.

I thought I can use implied_hold to add a default hold during load. But IBM document says (pasted below), use implied hold if you are using another solution for retention management.

-What is best approach for my requirement.
- Any disadvantage of using implied-hold.
- If implied hold is used, will it cause any CMOD functionality like reload to stop.
- Also when I used Implied-Hold, hold field displays a value of 16384.

Holds
You indicate, through the use of searches, the specific documents that you want to hold. You can apply holds to documents in any application group. Use this type of hold if you are using Content Manager OnDemand as your retention management tool.

Implied holds
When Content Manager OnDemand loads documents, it applies a hold to all the documents in that load. You can apply this type of hold only to documents in new application groups. Use this type of hold if you are using another solution as your retention management tool.

MP Server / DB Password Encryption
« on: November 17, 2017, 10:06:58 AM »
is DB password encrypted in transit while CMOD (9.5 or 10.1)  is  connecting to a remote oracle DB. I know the password is stored encrypted in stash file.

MP Server / Password and DB connection security
« on: October 05, 2017, 09:12:11 AM »
I have general questions around security

CMOD   version > 9.0

Is password encrypted
  -  from OnDemand Desktop thick client to CMOD?
  -  From ODWEK to CMOD?

Is DB connection from CMOD secured? Does CMOD encrypt pw to DB?

MP Server / ICOS as storage manager - ARS0452E return code 6
« on: September 11, 2017, 02:05:56 PM »
Hello,
Trying a proof of concept using ICOS as storage manager CMOD 10.1.0.1 on Linux X86.

The arsload  fails with ARS0452E with return code 6.

Has any one tried ICOS as storage manager and was it successful?

CMOD V9.5
Windows 2012

Running the arsadmin fails with syntax error; Any fix. I referred V9.5 administrator guide for the syntax I do not see an issue.

"d:\Program Files\IBM\OnDemand\V9.5\bin\arsadmin" unload -h arsins1 -g test1   -L 5036-1-0-1FAA-20161017000000-20161017000000-5043 -u admin -p arsins.stash

RHEL       CMOD 9.5    DB -  remote oracle 11g

arsload fails:

Note:
 1) As per Alassandro's, suggestion in earlier post, left the ars.dbfs empty for using remote oracle.
 2) Permissions granted for the oracle DB schema (id) are as defined in this link except for TABLESPACE create and drop. http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21571134

from system log :
ARS0015E  Unable to find SMS tablespace filesystems.  Either the defined SMS filesystems are full or there are no SMS filesystems defined.

MP Server / CMOD On Linux - Implmnenting HA with VERITAS cluster
« on: July 26, 2016, 10:43:36 AM »
I am asked to implement CMOD 9.5 on Linux where HA using VERITS cluster.  I am wondering if this is possible. Any suggestion.

1)   Availability of VCS HA agent for CMOD ? Standard or IBM customized available (for service start, stop, monitor& clean  )
2)   Recommended procedure for integration ( Filesystem layout, Disklayout, User details, Any additional IP requirement , Dependencies)
3)   Any best practices

MP Server / CMOD 9.5 on RHEL with remote Oracle
« on: July 14, 2016, 10:39:59 AM »
I have a new requirement to setup CMOD 9.5 on RHEL with remote ORACLE.

1)  I see the parameter ARS_ORACLE_HOIME what would be the value while having remote Oracle? Do I need to install any ORACLE component (Oracle server binary or Oracle client)  on the CMOD Library server?

3) Is it necessary to keep the CMOD instance owner id and the Oracle database owner id the same?

2) Can some one share  all the CMOD configuration parameters that need to be taken care, and what values are assigned to them.

3) Is tablespace creation user exit required with Oracle on remote server?
With IBM documentation it seems we may not need it if we use default oracle tables space.

3) Is table space creation is a onetime requirement that I can have ORACLE DBA to create when configuring the oracle database?

4) If a tablespace user exit is required can some one share working sample.

MP Server / CMOD commands - How to capture return code
« on: July 13, 2016, 07:51:44 AM »
My client is planning to use VBScripts on windows to automate PDF indexer and arsload. They would like to know CMOD utilities like arspdoci, arsload returns any RC code upon completion. How to capture them with out scanning indexer or load command output message.

CMOD 9.0 on AIX - System log updated to new date format. Now the issue is "arsdoc query" on system log is not returning the timestamp in new date/time format.

When using windows client system log query returns the new date/time format as shown below:

2016-07-04 06:39:49.422006   SECURE   100553   Info   Yes       34   User Add: Userid(USER1) Id(126)

Whereas "arsdoc query" returns timestamp as shown below. Is there anything missed, how do I get the query result to return new date/time style?

07/04/16 06:39:49,SECURE,4,34,User Add: Userid(NWUSER1) Id(126),T,100553,

Working on retention change ( say 2 year to 3 year ) for an AppGrp that is on an OAM storage set. Found out there are more AppGrps on the same OAM storage set, which does not need retention change. What is the best way to change the retention for this 1 APpgrp?

200 MM Docs are on the Ap0Ggrp that require retention change. CMOD 9.0 on Z.OS. OAM is using DASD.
