z/OS Server / OAM database error
« on: August 09, 2022, 05:06:01 AM »
Anybody run into the following issue with their OAM database?  Sadly, due to circumstances out of our control, we are way out of support on both CMOD and DB2 so we have no help from IBM forthcoming.  Shot in the dark that someone else has run into this.
We have an instance that is loading a lot of PDFs through a windows loader into our CMOD instance on z/OS.  Everything is going fine until, after only a few weeks and only a few million documents, we hit this:

ARS0430E LOAD40PW OAM Error: ARGMVSST: 0000000b(0000000c-8802fc78) OND.  426

Our DBAs are very inexperienced and have been unable to diagnose the issue.  Our solution was to create a new OAM database which, as mentioned, only lasted a couple weeks and now we find ourselves with the same issue.  Available storage is way more than needed so were having a hard time figuring out why OAM cannot find enough available segment space.  We have a half dozen other instances on our system that have been loading this way for years with no issues.  If anybody has run into something similar I would appreciate it if you could share your findings.

Windows Client / Citrix and customization
« on: March 24, 2016, 06:47:58 AM »
Does anybody have experience using the Windows client on Citrix?  Specifically customizations?  I have zero knowledge of Citrix however for one of our instances the users are putting their clients on Citrix.  When they go to logon the server information is always cleaned out and they have to re-enter the information every time.  I'm assuming someone would have to hard code that information into the registry which has to be possible, no?  Also how does the Citrix environment affect preferences? If Citrix doesn't allow user specific updates to the registry does that mean preferences, shortcuts, expression finds, recent ... etc won't be available on an individual basis?

z/OS Server / SSL on z/OS
« on: March 11, 2016, 07:22:37 AM »
Has anyone set up SSL on a z/OS CMOD server (V9.5)?  Documentation is rather sparse regarding this and I'm quite unfamiliar with SSL in general.  I think I've managed to set up the keyring file and stash file but I seem to be stuck getting beyond this point.  For example, based on the config guide there is no way to specify a port for SSL.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Greg

z/OS Server / ARSEXOAM V9.5
« on: September 11, 2015, 07:47:42 AM »
Anyone else run into problems running ARSEXOAM on V9.5?   We migrated to 9.5 and now when I try to run ARSEXOAM it no longer recognizes the format of the ARSPARM.  No changes are described in the 9.5 manuals and it works fine in 8.5.
I get:
ARS5024I ARSEXOAM 9.5.0.2 invoked on 09/11/15 14:39:09

z/OS Server / XML by version
« on: June 16, 2015, 12:29:28 PM »
This is kind of a wishful thinking question.  How rigid is the version when it comes to the XML schema?
Here's my "dilemma".
I am migrating an instance from 8.4 MP to 9.5 z/OS.  I've been using XML to migrate the definitions and all is going well except for the folders.  What I've discovered is that the schema for a 9.5 folder is completely different than it was for 8.4 and to get the exported folders to load requires reformatting of the XML definitions.  Right now my options is to modify the XML definitions by hand, which makes no sense as we're talking about thousands of folders or develop an application that will reformat them in batch. Not being an XML expert my question is, what would happen if I pointed my 8.4 XML export command at a 9.5 schema (or even an 8.5 one)?   Would this cause my export to be formatted in the 9.5 schema or would it just blow up when it hits a wrong datatype?
Just curious if anyone has tried something like this as it could save me a fair amount of work.

MP Server / ARSXML Export under 8.4
« on: May 13, 2015, 08:02:26 AM »
Has anyone successfully exported all their applications using ARSXML and the _ALL  export with V8.4?  We're trying to export an 8.4 database and ran into a JAVA exception issue when using applicationGroup name="_ALL" using the -a option.  We got the application groups before it died so I'm trying to retrieve just the applications.  Using the name=" _All" option for applications isn't working because it's looking for something in the appGroup= field.  Under V9.5 appGroup="_ALL" works but fails in V8.4 (App Group '_ALL' doesn't exist).  I'm curious if anyone has got around this?

MP Server / DB2 Install issue
« on: April 29, 2015, 12:58:36 PM »
As part of a V9.5 CMOD upgrade we are trying to do a new install of DB2 10.5 on Windows.  After running setup we get the pop up window for install but the left pane is blank.  No options to install, or anything.  Has anyone else run into this?  We're going to try a silent install but was curious if there was a solution for this problem.

Report Indexing / PDF Indexer
« on: March 17, 2015, 12:35:32 PM »
Just a quick question.
We're migrating to z/OS 9.5 and will need to switch to PDF Indexer MP and I need to select an OS.
Anyone have a preference?  AIX, Linux, Windows?  If you're running PDF Indexer on one of these would you mind sharing good/bad?
Thanks ahead of time.

Windows Client / 9.5 ODF Monitor client compatibility

Anyone know if the new 9.5 ODF Monitor is compatible with an 8.5 Server (z/OS)?

z/OS Server / Printing AFP documents using ODF V8.5
« on: August 15, 2012, 08:29:32 AM »
Is anyone using ODF V8.5 to print AFP embedded documents with a banner page on a mainframe printer?  We have a few line data documents that get loaded with Pagedefs and Formdefs for online viewing.  Viewing works fine however if we have ODF send the document , now AFP embedded, to the printer and attempt to use a banner page it fails at the printer.  We're curious if anyone is succesfully printing this way.

z/OS Server / ARSMAINT and OAM
« on: February 10, 2012, 07:37:27 AM »
I didn't want to hijack the other the other thread regarding document holds so I'm starting a new one.
In the other thread Ed stated "- Because the application group has an expiration of LOAD - arsmaint (or arsadmin unload) is able to call OAM to delete the objects as well."

I was a little suprised to read this as I've been going under the assumption that ARSMAINT only touches cache and indexes.  Does ARSMAINT really delete OAM objects?  I suppose it's possible if CMOD is issuing an OSREQ DELETE command but there's no mention of this in the manual.  We have a couple of users who tend to mix up the use of Expire by Storage manager and Expire by load so this would be useful to know.

z/OS Server / ARSLOAD on a different system
« on: October 22, 2010, 10:40:06 AM »
We're running an 8.4 instance on z/OS.  We've noticed in various documentation that it's shown that ARSLOAD can be run in a different system and use TCP/IP to connect with the library and object server.  Does anybody here run their systems this way?  We're trying to design something along this line and, while seeing reference to it, we're not seeing any actuall "how to's".  Problem is we're not trying to go from z/OS to z/OS but from a distributed environment to z/OS.
Any help would be appreciated.
