z/OS Server / Decoding the "perms" column?
« on: August 01, 2022, 11:21:46 AM »
Has anyone been able to decode the bit values of the "perm" column found accross several of the CMDO tables?

I figure I can probably decode by updating each value and displaying the row for the particular table but thought someone may have already done this?

z/OS Server / Enhanced Retention Management and expiration
« on: December 16, 2020, 07:44:39 AM »
We're embarking on implementing ERM soon.  As I understand it, ERM retains documents by placing HOLDS and not by placing an expiration date on the document.  It is also my understanding that you must remove expiration processing currently in place (we currently use OAM for storing our reports).

So if t his is the case then how will reports that do not contain a HOLD, expire under notmal circumstances?  How do I control certain reports' expiration dates as I do using OAM today?  Will I lose this capability?

z/OS Server / OAM Object Name Reference
« on: March 27, 2020, 07:34:20 AM »
There have been topics on updating the retetion in-place for OAM objects before.  I was part of one thread a few years back.  I understand that I can update the retention period of an OAM object without reload but, the issue/challenge I'm having is "How to correlate a loaded report to an OAM object?"  I've been looking at the columns in the OAM tables and ARSAG, ARSSEG tables but can't figure out how to tie back the Appliation Group stuff to OAM stored objects.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

z/OS Server / ODF Customized e-mail Subject
« on: January 17, 2020, 07:39:11 AM »
Hello all,
We're in need to customize the Subject line for "specific" recipient only.  The arsodf.xml comments seems to suggest that you can do this by using the <Recipient> tag under the <EmailAttachmentNotify> section.  It's not clear wether the <Name> tag should specify the RECIPIENT or RECIPIENT LIST or does it matter.  I've tried everything including the actual e-mail address in the <Name> tag under <Recipient> to no avail.  The only thing that seems to work is the "default" Subject immediately following <EmailAttachmentNotify>.

Any ideas?

Content Navigator / Line2PDF viewer/transform anyone?
« on: August 16, 2019, 06:40:00 AM »
Running ICN 3.0.6 on AIX with ODWEK 9.5 and OnDemand on z/OS DB2 V11.1.  I'd like to use the Line2PDF viewer documented in the ICN documentation but not sure where to find it.  I found indication that it is provided with CMOD 9.5 but it is nowhere to be found.  I also looked in CMOD 10.1 not to be found either.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?

z/OS Server / CMOD 9.5 (maybe 10) and OSPROTECT?
« on: January 17, 2019, 11:52:34 AM »
We recently installed APAR OA54807 which enables z/OS to use the OSPROTECT parameter in IEASYSxx.  After installing this APAR we immediately ran into S0C4 in the ARSSOCK server.  I searched for CMOD maintenance and did not find anything.  Has anyone run into a similar issue with OSPROTECT and CMOD?

We have a need to view reports currently residing in CMOD/OAM in a different manner than being shown in current folders.  The data being loaded today has 2 fields; one is an index the other defaults to the current date/time value as the data gets loaded.   The folders have both fields defined which the user can use to search and make a selection.

We’d like to setup a new folder which would eliminate the index field and just show the “unique” date/time field for selection.  The problem we have is that the data is already stored using the index field so when a new folder is created with just the date/time field, duplicate entries are displayed.

Can I create a folder that shows the report by the unique date/time field without having to reload the data into a new Application/Application Group?

z/OS Server / Suppresion of banner page
« on: September 28, 2016, 08:10:40 AM »
In the administration GUI (CMOD 9.5), there's a check-box on the Recipient update dialog which, I thought, was to prevent the banner page from being generated.  We use the banner exit (ARSRBAN) but in reading the documentation, it's not supposed to be called if this check mark is removed (?)  Does anyone know if this is the case?  ( I performed a test with the banner page check-mark removed but the exit was still called )

Thanks.

z/OS Server / Cobol ARSUUPDZ dynamic exit
« on: September 19, 2015, 08:01:55 AM »
I'm in the process of upgrading CMOD from 8.5 to 9.5.  We have a report specifications archive exit which is written in Cobol, and had been working flawlessly since release 7.1 of CMOD.  After compiling this exit as usual, I'm encountering ABEND U4088 RC=78.  I think it may be due to an LE issue.  I can see in the dump, that arsuupdt and ARSUUPDX are being invoked.  Once the CSVEXPR module is called (dynamic exit facility) I get the ABEND.  I then tried the supplied 'Assember' version of ARSUUPDZ which was being called without issues.

I hate to have to convert this exit to assembler so, can anyone shed some light on this?  Maybe it's the way that the program is compiled and linked.  Would I have to link it as it indicates in the CMOD Readbook for the APKACIF exit?

Any help will be appreciated.

z/OS Server / Application group does not exist
« on: January 15, 2013, 11:20:42 AM »
I'm using the arsload utility to load output extracted from an CMOD 8.4.0.3 system into my 8.5.0.6 system with all the latest maintenance.  This works fine with most Application Groups but this particular one has a 'blank' (space) embedded within its name 'PROD JCL2'.  So I receive the following errors during arsload:

arsload: Processing file >/SG01/fpl/ars/tmp/test.0.PROD JCL2.PROD JCL2<
The application group >PROD JCL2< does not exist or user >admin< does not have permission to access the application group
The userexit >/usr/lpp/ars/V8R5M1/bin/exits/arsuupdt< failed. The return code is 16

arsload: Processing failed for file >/SG01/fpl/ars/tmp/test.0.PROD JCL2.PROD JCL2<

I've exhausted all my search efforts and am short of opening an PMR.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

z/OS Server / Julian date format
« on: December 10, 2008, 08:34:24 AM »
I'm attempting to load a report with a Julian date in the form of 'YYDDD'.  I've defined the load information format as 'y%j%' but I get the error "Row 1:  The string "08345" could not be converted to a date from the format of y%j%".  Any ideas would be appreciated!
