z/OS Server / move a part of a CMOD installation to another LPAR
« on: September 12, 2022, 06:37:50 AM »
hi

we run CMOD v.10.5 on z/OS.

A part of our company has been sold and now we need to find a way to unload all APG, AP, Folder etc and data that belong to that company as they need to get that with them to another installation.

We have no APG's that are shared between the 2 companies and I can use the name of the APG to identify if the APG belongs to company 1 or company 2. >It was maybe a long-shot - but I had an idea of just copying the whole DB2 complex - and then use the Administrator to delete the APG's and so on that should not be moved - but my DB2 system programmers have told me, that we have so much data in OAM that we are not able to do that.

Does any one have any idea of how you can 'split' an installation?    and I don't expect to get a final solution to implement - but more some ideas of what might be possible.

I have asked my System programmer on CMOD on z/OS - but he hadn't any ideas.

Any input is appreciated.

Hi

thanks for the replies.

But Darrell - if I have understood the manual correct - the setting of the SHOWLOGO to 0 will only prevent the splash from being shown - but it doesn't remove the ability of using Help - About - so for that I need to make a product.inf file which can 'overrule' the normal 'About' screen, right?

I will try to test it - but as we have the Client on a citrix solution and we are not allowed to be local admin on our computers - it takes a bit more effort ....

hi

we run windows client v. 10.5.0.5 - and the server on z/OS.

Is it in anyway possible to customize the client so the Help - About - is not available?  I have tried to look in the installation guide but didn't find anything about that.

I have got a penetration test finding because it is possible to use Help - About to see the version.

Any kind of help will be appreciated.

hi

we run the windows client v. 10.5.0.5. and server on z/OS using RACF as access control

this might not be a specific ondemand client issue - but I have got a pentest finding saying it should not be possible to have more than one active client session with the same user at a time - does anyone knows how to do that?  right now I can start several clients and log on to all of them with the same user

Windows Client / change of type of a index field
« on: January 03, 2022, 12:45:23 PM »
hi

I have the ondemand server on Z/OS and use the windows client to access data. We run version 10.5.0.

In one of the application groups one of the index fields is defined as integer - but now that field is having a value that is to big for an integer - it is over 220000000000 - so the arsload ends with an ARS1125E error.

I made a test where I made a new APG where the field is Big int - and then I have added a new field to the folder, so the folder now have 2 columns with almost the same name - and one is used for the documents from the APG with the integer and one is for the APG with the Big integer - but has anyone another suggestion to solve the issue?

I tried to attach a screen shot of the folder - but i couldn't get it to work ...

Hi

we run Ondemand client v. 10.5.0.1 and Ondemand server v. 10.1  (z/OS).

After a penetration test of the client, I was asked if it was possible to remove the option:  File - show Temporary files location  - from the client.  A far as I have be able to investigate it is not possible -  but I might have overlooked something - so it would be nice if any of you have any experiences regarding removing options from the dropdown list of File....

Windows Client / The different types of administrator users
« on: April 27, 2021, 12:53:23 AM »
Hi

we are running CMOD v. 10.1 - both server, client and administrator.

Is it correct understood that users with the user type user administrator are only able to view folders they have created themselves at some point in time?  I ask because I would like to change this group from being system administrators to being 'only' user administrators, What seems to make problems is that they are also the ones that gives the users access to the folders and to me it  seems like the user administrators won't be able to view all existing folders...

any one having any experiences in using the user type user administrator and application group.. administrator?

hi

we run CMOD v. 10.1.

I'm in a situation, where an application uses ODWEK to add/load documents into Ondemand. Now we need to remove a single document from Ondemand - how do I do that?

Normally I would use ARSADMIN with an unload using the LoadId- but as I understand it, you don't get a LoadId when you use ODWEK. I have looked at using arsdoc - but if I have understood the manual correct - that will only delete the index not the actual document.

Any suggestions or guidance will be received with thanks :-)

Windows Client / edit of CPDEF.FNT and CSDEF.FNT not possible
« on: March 02, 2021, 06:07:59 AM »
Hi
I'm upgrading our windows client to v. 10.5 - and I need to add some user defined values to CPDEF and CSDEF - I have installed the client on my own laptop to test it - and even though I'm local admin I'm not allowed to edit the 2 files located in C:\Program Files\IBM\OnDemand Clients\V10.5\font  - I'm allowed to copy, rename and delete the files - but not edit. I have tried to copy the files to another local folder - not in program files - edit the file and copy it back to the font folder - but I'm not allowed to that either.
Have any of you experienced the same or do you know how to be able to edit those files ?

any suggestions are very welcome...

okay - I'll forward Justin's preposal - and see what they say....

Just for my understanding - is the window administrator client the only way to do user administration?   so if you have a Linux installation you still need to have a windows admin ?

hi
Thanks for the replies.

Maybe I'm mistaken - but I thought that the administrative client was only available for windows?

Hi

we have the Ondemand server (v. 10.1) on z/OS v. 2.4 and the company doing our user administration has until now accessed Ondemand using the windows administrator from a windows jumphost - now they have changed to a Linux jumphost - but apparently there is no Linux administrator - so does any one know how to do user administation (create/delete users and give/remove accesses) when you have a Linux client and a z/OS server v. 10.1?
I have been told that in the Linux client version 10.5 there is a web access - but then we need to upgrade the server on z/OS and that is not something we can do just overnight  (we have applications using ODWEK that need to be upgraded first and so on ...)

Windows Client / the 'copy documents to file ' function
« on: May 26, 2020, 04:51:07 AM »
hi

we run Ondemand client v. 10.1.0.4 (64 bit).

Is it possible to disable the 'copy document to file' function?

I have a PCI finding regarding this function so I'm looking for a way to either disable the function or restrict the use....  and is it correct that it doesn't show in the system log, that people actually makes a copy from Ondemand?

thanks in advance for any comments
