MP Server / Shutting down arssockd
« on: November 22, 2020, 11:16:11 AM »
We upgraded to version a few months ago and this weekend we had to shutdown arssockd so the servers could be patched.

We logged in as root and switced user to ARCHIVE but were not able to shutdown arssockd via the arssockd stop or the arssockd -T commands

We ended up having to kill the arssockd process.  We do not have the issue in CERT where we are at instead of

I thought maybe the newest fixpack addressed the issue but after looking at the README I did not see any reference to it.

Has anyone else experienced issues where the arssockd stop command does not shutdown CMOD ?

This is Linux environment and will be PPD files.

Thanks Justin.

These will be concatenated PPD files with 1099 statements.

So - guess what I need to know is max recommended size of a concatenated file

We are going to be receiving some large PPD files to load into OnDemand (version

What is the max file size that could be ingested into CMOD ?  I think I read somewhere that it was 50MB but want to confirm.

Windows Client / Display Document Location (Folder)
« on: February 28, 2020, 01:04:47 PM »
Does anyone know if disabling the Display Document Location have much of an effect on performance.

I noticed most of our folders have it enabled but don't really see the need since all of our documents are cache storage.

Am I missing something ?

Windows Client / Send Option (File Menu) Grayed Out in WIN10/Outlook 365
« on: February 26, 2020, 08:24:16 AM »
Last year we moved to WIN10 and Office 365.
The Send Option is grayed out under the File menu on the thick client.

On our side we have tried both 32 and 64 bit clients and have default app settings to Outlook and MAPI is enabled.
We are using the most recent client and we have tested against both and CMOD versions

We opened a case with IBM and after several months (they had to order Office365, etc.) they got back to us and stated that the Send option is grayed out for them as well.

IBM is sending to their development team but stated it might be a Microsoft issue.

Has anyone else run into this?  I find it hard to believe we are their first customer to use WIN10 and Outlook 365 but again according to IBM support it does not work for them either.

Report Indexing / Re: PDF Indexing - Page Piece Dictionary

I have done some timings.  We used to have some medium sized credit card PDF files.

They took about 40 minutes to load using the PDF Indexer X/Y coordinates.

We had the vendor convert to PPD files and the same size files take less than 5 minutes to load.

We noticed a HUGE difference loading PPD files as opposed to using X/Y coordinates

OK - finally figured out what the issue was in case anyone else runs into.

For this upgrade we will be moving from AIX to Linux servers.

The reason the AFP files would not load on the Linux servers is because AIX is big endian and Linux is little endian.

So - I have to change the NO-OP trigger so that the least significant value in the sequence is stored first at the lowest storage address.

So I have a little more info.

When attempting to load/index the AFP files on Linux server (using version it is not recognizing the AFP NO-OP records that we are using as the base trigger info.

The arsafpd command shows that the NO-OP records are there.  If I change the trigger to something other than the X'5A' NO-OP then the files load with no issue.

The same exact files loading on to current prod AIX server (using version load with no issues.

Could there be some difference between AIX and Linux servers in regards to codepage that would cause the NO-OP records not to be recognized on the Linux server ?

Thanks Ed - I don't think it is related to that but I will look into it.  Below are the actual indexer parameters being used - I do not see any exit or INDEXSTYLE=AFP reference.

Report Indexing / AFP files won't load
« on: December 12, 2019, 06:50:13 AM »
We are in the process of upgrading from to and are currently testing sending different report formats to the 10.1 cert server.

Line mode reports are loading with no issue but AFP files are failing with the APK448S error (indexing was requested but no trigger info was found, etc..). I verified the trigger info is there and the same files load into the same version of the app group/application on our 9.5 CMOD server with no issue.

I am basically doing a dual load - sending the file(s) to both the 9.5 server and the other to the new 10.1 cert server.  The files load on the 9.5 server but fail on the 10.1 server.  The app groups/applications were copied from the 9.5 server to the 10.1 server so they are identical.
I am stumped..  Anyone ever ran into this issue ?

MP Server / AIX vs Linux
« on: March 01, 2019, 09:45:44 AM »
We are in the process of planning upgrade from CMOD 9.5 to 10.1

We currently run on AIX 7.1 but the UNIX team that are the OS admins want to move to Linux.  I am mainly just the CMOD application admin and admit I am no Unix expert but I always thought that AIX was king when it comes to performance and reliability.

We provide online banking customers with access to all their electronic statements and average around 35,500 concurrent users so performance and reliability are critical.

Could anyone educate me on pros/cons of AIX vs Linux ?  I am not sure what advantage moving to Linux would provide other than maybe cost related ?

Did you try changing the INDEXSTARTBY parameter to 99 instead of 1 ?

MP Server / User Login Activity - System Parameter
« on: January 17, 2018, 07:18:44 AM »
Under general System Parameters we currently have login/logoff system logging turned off because of the volume of logins for external Web Banking customers, etc.  (Our logs were HUGE before we turned this logging off).

If we wanted to disable users after 90 inactive days (User Login Activity section) would it still work since we have the system logging turned off ?

My initial guess is that it would since it still has Last Login information under the USERS information
