The largest one I'm aware of is/was in the low-single-digit petabyte range.  I would suspect that the number might have been 3.3 Petabytes...  33 sounds unfathomably large, even for CMOD.

Yeah, if the PPD format is bad, CMOD can't be expected to parse it properly.

Just a brief update.  I've exchanged eMails with IBM, and in order to exploit this bug, an attacker would need access to modify data in the cache or secondary storage (Tivoli Storage Manager / Spectrum Protect / Cloud Storage Buckets / Filesystems).  This is a pretty extreme level of access, meaning that any attacker looking to exploit this bug would already be able to do far more damage than simply crash CMOD instances.

In short, the level of risk associated with this alert is extremely low.

IBM released a security bulletin for an old vulnerability from 2018 that affects current versions of CMOD:

In short, it would allow an attacker that ALREADY has a very high level of access to your system to cause CMOD to crash.

Upgrading to the latest fixpack is always a good idea, this is just another reason to stay current on patches.

The PROTOCOL parameter identifies the communications protocol used by the instance. The number 2 identifies TCP/IP, and is the only valid value.

I mean, it looks like the generic index file is bad - given that the file is on the E: drive, and the resource is on the C: drive... maybe file permissions / access issues?

Sounds like you'd need a security exit for that.  But the security exits only allow you to approve or deny a login, so I don't think you could use it to kill the old session while allowing the new session to proceed.  Looks like this might be a good candidate for an enhancement request.
