Aha!

Terminolgy, terminolgy, terminology:

z/OS is the z/OS operating system.

z/Linux is Linux, the flavor of the operating system that runs on z/Architecture

z/Architecture is the architecture of the physical box.  You can run several operating systems on it just like you can run different operating systems on your Intel box.  You can run z/OS, z/Linux, z/VM, whatever TPF is called nowadays, and I've never fooled with it but I believe z/VSE can also run native on z/Architecture.

Dinesh -

I'm not an expert on ACIF indexing...

However - looking at the service level ACIF:

https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/apar/PH34181?mhsrc=ibmsearch_a&mhq=PH34181

It says that level is PE (PTF in Error) -

Highly recommend getting current on ACIF maintenance and trying again.

z/OS Server / Re: Question on Inactivity Time Out setting
« on: January 26, 2023, 11:43:33 AM »
"Use System Value"

If you go to the admin client and open the tab where you see the three values and then go to the HELP you'll see:

Use System Value
This option is available only when adding or updating a user. Use the time out value from the Login Information page of the System Parameters window.

This refers back to the System Parameters for the instance, the Login Information tab.

On that page there are two possible selections, either Never Time Out or Time Out in nnn Minutes

That's where for that user, if that option is selected, the timeout value will be derived.

z/OS Server / List of All APARs and PTFs for CMOD on z/OS V10.5
« on: November 25, 2022, 09:33:16 AM »
My intention is to keep this current.

Last changed:   03/05/2024  -

To get the detailed info on each fix go to ibm.com and search on the APAR.

Note: on z/OS PTFs are not cumulative.  A newer PTF may or may not include a fix previously available.

Sounds like part of a debug for an exit, writing out that it is indeed finding the F1 in the input file.

blah blah blah

So that's my combination of quotes and things without quotes.

Report Indexing / Re: RC 0 with ACIF/Line - File still fails
« on: October 03, 2022, 10:54:48 AM »
Okay, ACIF completed with RC=0 but the loading failed.

The second box, are there messages before what you put in the second box?

What versions of CMOD are in play here - both loader and server?

Working from home has its advantages, but sometimes, in-person is the only way to go. Following on from last years CMOD Virtual Workshop series, I'm delighted to announce that we are bringing back in-person CMOD Technical Workshops starting with a session in Chicago on September 27-28, 2022.  All being well we plan to have more in-person workshops in 2023 (dates and locations to be determined).

What is the CMOD Technical Workshop?
This is a 1.5 Day Free event, where we present best practices, roadmap, how to’s, and open conversations with your Peers, SMEs, Development and Product Management. This doesn’t replace formal training, but is an excellent event for seasoned CMOD users, folks new to CMOD and those evaluating CMOD.

Cost?
It’s Free to attend. Clients are responsible to cover their own travel expenses. IBM and our Partners will cover lunch and a social event on Tuesday night.

Where?
IBM Chicago Office in the Hyatt Center at 71 South Wacker Drive.

You can try to reclaim space by either REORGing or perhaps allocating the tablespace with COMPRESS YES.

z/OS Server / Re: Recommended DB2 on z/OS Service, V12
« on: June 03, 2022, 08:29:47 AM »
Saw this today and thought it might be of interest:

PH29392: NEW FUNCTION
.
https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/apar/PH29392
.
This APAR introduces NEW Function, for Level 508. This is the Function that affects MQ as well.

From the DB2 V12 documentation:

* Function level 508 (V12R1M508) introduces support for moving tables from deprecated multi-table simple and multi-table segmented table spaces to partition-by-growth universal table spaces (UTS), without taking an outage, to improve application and database operations and performance.
It is the introduction of UTS Tablespaces that affects MQ, because MQ will need to migrate all simple Tablespaces to UTS format.
