z/OS Server / byte counting
« on: May 21, 2013, 07:07:39 AM »
We seem to be having trouble doing a byte count for a CSV file that we want to store. The file is originated on the MF, but when we count bytes, it never seems to jive with the indexer. Using the generic indexer and we want to store multiple CSV files that would normally be unique documents, concatenated together to be read as one file and split using the indexer file.

Anyone got any tips?

I don't think we sleep at all, based on our volume. but we had an instance where the lpar went down, and all connections were lost. We had to restart the odwek servers. Our odwek are running off the mainframe on a unix box.

z/OS Server / MP odwek and Z base code- connection pooling
« on: November 07, 2012, 02:31:18 PM »
Any insight into connection pooling with a Z library and object server, and ODWEK running on linux?  It seems the connection is established on a single lpar, rather than across the sysplex and if that lpar goes down, so does the connection pool.

I'm not an odwek developer, so speak in English terms please.

Thanks Ed. I did get it into a parm member too, but forgot to turn off line numbers so it didn't like them hanging on at the end of the line.

Now, if you had the magic libpath info to get arsxml working with 8.4.0.3 for us.

Trying to run ARSXML on Z, and my libpath variable goes beyond col 72. Anyone been able to move the environmental variables to a dataset, or an ishell profile?

Announcements & News / Odug Board Officer appointments
« on: January 19, 2012, 12:28:36 PM »
I wanted to take a quick few seconds to announce who your Board members and Officers are for 2012.

Tim Fraser, Michael Prouse, and Benny Ormson are board members, along with the following Board/Officers.

Lorelei Puthoff is Secretary. She is in charge or recording our meetings, action items, and general note-taking

Justin Derrick is now Vice President. He will preside over the board when the president is absent.

And Geoff Wilde (me) is your new President. I will be a primary point of contact for board members, IBM, and the user community at large. I have no power without the users and the support of the Board.

Thank you for your support of the Board member, me, and the OnDemand User group. We look to continue providing input into the product development, as much as IBM lets us, and to provide a meaningful user community to share ideas, challenges, and solutions.

Let me also thank Benny for his years of service as President. Benny will continue on the Board, and I'm glad to have his experience and knowledge still with our group.
