IBM is going to share their ECM newsletter with the ODUG board and forum. We'll post subsequent issues here also, and possibly direct links depending on how they publish it internally.

z/OS Server / System folder security and RACF
« on: June 07, 2011, 12:38:16 PM »
We're using the security exit, but our installation of RACF we're only protecting UPPER case folder names, not mixed case. Has anyone dealt with the mixed case system log and system load facility folders using RACF?

Considerations too:  how many files are processing at one. We used to have 16 files at one time, but would experience sporadic load failures. We cut that to 4 at one time and have had no failures in almost a full week. Jury is still out, but it looks good so far.

well, we've cleaned up a bit. The readme will be changed to reflect some install steps, but we ran a program called ARSMIG85 which converts line feed commands. In our case, we did not need to run that, so we ran the program again to convert back.

Also, look for information from the ODUG board on this topic.

We're using IBM print services AFP2PDF transform on an AFP document. We get a blank screen, with no data present. The tab shows the document name, just like it should. We can also e-mail the document, and that seems to work without incident.

We've tried with both IE8.0 and Firefox. Used to be just IR, but now it's happening with Firefox also. Firefox version I'm using is 3.6.15.

z/OS Server / Re: RACF example with CMOD 8.4
« on: February 11, 2011, 02:46:33 PM »
we use RACF and the security exit for access. Each user is defined, and stands on his/her own merits for permissions. Maybe monday I can help you out a bit. We customized the sample code just a little bit

z/OS Server / Re: User security exit, RACF and load permission

for us, we had to add the user ids to the CMOD user table with full authority and specify that id in the load task. Public is not used.

we've done this on the z/os series a bunch or times and use it to validate new maintenance.
