TSM Upgrade to 7.1 from 5.5
« on: April 23, 2014, 08:39:29 AM »
We have decided to upgrade to 7.1 TSM from 5.5.  The documentation mentions running dsmupgrd querydb, dsmupgrd preparedb, and dsmupgrd extractdb commands.  This dsmupgrd command does not exist in /usr/tivoli/tsm's directory.  I can run query db, however after logging into my tsm server using dsmadmc -se=<server name>.  Is this the same thing?  If so, how do I run the preparedb command?
Thanks...

If the dsmuprgd command is missing, the most likely issues are:

  • You haven't downloaded & installed the tsm 5.5.x upgrade package
  • You're not in the right directory
  • The directory isn't in your $PATH environment variable.

In the last case, you can run ./dsmupgrd (notice the dot-slash) when you're in the directory where dsmupgrd lives, which is different depending on your platform.
