arsstash and System i
« on: November 07, 2014, 12:15:21 PM »
We recently upgraded to server level 9.0.0.2 at one of my clients.

Management is keen to use arsstash to enhance security when running shell scripts that use arsdoc, arsload API etc.
For most production work we use ADDRPTOND, RMVRPTOND and STRMONOND where this is not an issue.

The 2013Q2 newsletter states in part:

The stash file to be used by an instance is specified in the ars.ini file (or in the Registry on
Windows) with the SRVR_OD_STASH parameter. For example,
SRVR_OD_STASH=/opt/IBM/ondemand/V9.0/config/ars.stash
The stash file can be used by these commands: arsadmin, arsdoc, arsload, arsmaint, arsrd, and
arsxml. In our example we will use arsload. The supported values for the -a parameter are
available in the arsstash help text.

This leads me to ask several questions.
1. Is anyone else using System i with arsstash and can offer some guidance?
2. Where would be an appropriate place on System i to store the stash file?
3. I have created a stash file in /QIBM/userdata/ondemand/config, which seems to work, but I haven't modified ars.ini to add SRVR_OD_STASH. The stash file seems to apply to all instances where I expected it to be instance specific. Apparently not?
