Viewing reports as AFP rather then PDF
« on: November 27, 2014, 09:07:46 AM »
Hello,
We've run into another issue now with viewing reports. Long story short, to save on costs the business decided we would use the "free" AFP viewer rather than have reports as PDF and pay license costs for that. We tested, and are using,  IBM OnDemand AFP Web Viewer 3.6.0.12. Initially when opening an AFP file we got some font error messages. This was fixed by installing some additional fonts, however, now some sections of reports have some weird things going on like words that run together without the spaces in between.

Has anyone else seen these types of issues when viewing AFP files ? For reference we are on CMOD 9.0.0.3 and using Version: 2.0.2 - Build: icn202.300.024

Thanks in advance.

As far as I had seen these issues are common with AFP, to resolve these issues proper font mapping needs to be done.

Bruce,  very common and will require an effort in AFP font mapping...  More than likely your AFP is using mainframe fonts, which do not translate directly to a windows font.  There are plenty of resources on this matter.  Just google "AFP font mapping CMOD".
