How To Interrupt Hit List when No Limit
« on: June 19, 2015, 08:49:15 AM »
Hello All,

Can someone tell me what key(s) to press when running the CMOD Windows Client,
when doing a Search for which that user has Maximum Hits set to No Limit, and the list
of hits is so large that one wants to interrupt the Search,

What keyboard key(s) are pressed to interrupt a long running Search?

Which IBM manual is that information found in?

Much obliged,

P. M.

Well I don't know the key, but I know that there is an icon with a yellow hand in the icon bar.
If you click on it, it will interrupt the search.

Alessandro,

Yes, that works, thanks.

In the CMOD Windows Client, the "yellow hand" button is defined as "cancel an operation".

This button is not found in any existing IBM CMOD manual.

There is only a cryptic reference to this button as the "cancel operation" on page 68 of the
IBM Redbook, CMOD Guide, SG246915.

It would be nice to have a genuine IBM CMOD User's Guide.  Most usage information for CMOD is embedded within functional descriptions, not an easy way to find usage info.

:-) I've never looked in the documentation for that particular icon !!!

That's interesting to know that is nowhere described!!!

At least I'm happy to have helped you! Maybe that would be a great point to open a PMR, and explaining that the documentation has a problem, because this feature to interrupt a search is nowhere documented, and it would be great to include it too!!!!
A PMR can also be used to correct the documentation :-)

It's actually kind of crazy what you can accomplish with a few seasoned java developers and "undocumented features in CMOD".

Let me just say I have seen some COOL stuff.

Much obliged for that correct response. :)

I surmise the reason there is no CMOD Users Guide is that it would expand without bound,
what with all the revisions. :-\

Okay, close this issue.  :D
