Troubleshooting Return Codes
« on: September 22, 2015, 07:27:17 AM »
Good Morning,
I'm attempting to load applications and decypher return codes in our system logs from failed applications.   Please see the attached PDF for examples of our most common ones.   After reading our documentation, I still dont have a clear understanding of these types of errors.    I apologize, I'm a new at this.

Can someone please give more information on Return code 16 and why its used in conjunction with return codes 310 and 255?  (What are they?)    Also Return Code 8, is a mystery also.

Any information or suggestions on how to fix would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks, Michelle

Justin Derrick

FYI, just cut-and-paste the text into your message rather than posting PDFs.  :)

The first one looks like the carriage control type is set wrong, or that the data doesn't actually have carriage controls.

The second one is complaining that the file format is invalid:

Hi,
I worked on the carriage control and have retested multiple times.   I keep getting same error.    In an attempt to fix the error, I added a trigger and still get the same error.  We have over 9,000 of these.  There has got to be a better way than the old Trial and Error method on EA one.   :-\

Hello Michelle,

normally, when you have such document to be indexed, you could use the "graphical interface" of the CMOD Admin Client, to check that he can read the file, and interpret correctly according to the ACIF parameters that you've given.
And then you can try in the graphical interface what values works or not. That's much faster, than modifying something, and doing an arsload each time.

Hope that helps a little bit.

Hi Michelle,
For the last error you posted try adding GROUPNAME=INDEX127.  When you don't specify the GROUPNAME parameter it uses the value of INDEX1 for the groupname and since you don't have an INDEX1 you're getting that error message.
