Remove Summary Page
« on: April 07, 2016, 01:15:08 PM »
I have a PDF report that I am trying to index that includes several summary pages that show up throughout the PDF document. Currently how we are indexing the report, it is splitting the file each time the account number changes, however when the indexing gets to the summary page it attaches it to the end of the previous account.  Since this summary page could contain several accounts we don't want the indexer to pick it up at all - either at the end of an account or the beginning of an account. Is there any way to tell the indexer to skip this particular page in the report? Or if tacks it on to the end of an account's pages is there a way to drop that page?

I'd strongly recommend splitting out the summaries from the documents at the source.  CMOD doesn't allow for slicing-and-dicing reports, or hiding data -- it's an archive tool, and obscuring data inside the stream (by omitting pages from being indexed) brings into question the fidelity of the archive -- something your legal team won't like.

If that doesn't work, try to find a way to index the summaries as separate documents, and give them a different value - like 's' for summary, and then use query restrictions to eliminate them from search results.
