heads up on 9.5.0.6 and ssl usage
« on: October 19, 2016, 07:24:51 AM »
We upgraded from 9.5.0.2 to 9.5.0.6 a few weeks ago. Upgrade itself went smoothly, but this past week one of our ARSSOCKD tasks took an S878 abend and took DB2 with it. We also had several load tasks that wouldn't load data due to "out of memory" issues. We recycled the load tasks and that got us back up and running, for the time being. We initiated an SR with IBM on the 878 issue, and they believe it to be related to SSL connections. We're still helping troubleshoot, but we're contemplating reverting to 9.5.0.2. We tested the reversal to the old code, and had no issues going back a level.

We do about 5 million SSL connections a month on one of our interfaces, which we don't get remotely close to in our test environments. Stay tuned

Not sure how SSL on the z/OS platform works -- GSKit has been problematic for those of us in the MP world for a while.  If you use the IBM Global Security Kit in your CMOD install, did you upgrade it as part of your patches?
