CMOD 8.5 to 10.1 Cross platform migrate
« on: May 14, 2018, 03:00:11 AM »
Good morning,
I asking for a feedback in order to handle a CMOD cross platform migration opportunity from V. 8.5 on Win 2003 (source) to V. 10.1 on Linux X86_64 (target).

To avoid the data export from source (arsdoc get) and import into target (arsload), I'm looking for a procedure to move, cross-platform, the library server DB and his cache.
I'm thinking, for example, to use the db2move command to transfer the library DB from win to Linux and the cache copy from Windows to Linux.
Obviously I have some doubt about the full compatibility from different platforms especially for disk cache.
Is there any advice or indication about ?
Many thanks for your support, regards.

There is no published documentation on this type of migration.  IBM Lab Services normally performs this sort of work, or local IBM Business Partners, or consultants.

There are actually a number of advantages of doing the export of data from v8 to v10 -- because a lot of the new features in CMOD v10 only work when data is loaded, not when a server is migrated or upgraded to v10.

JD is right. Install a whole new system, and migrate the data.

IMHO- doesnt sound difficult. but who knows! Come back with questions! Glad to help.
