TSM question
« on: November 05, 2018, 07:08:02 AM »
Hi All,
We have ars_adsm tool in cmod 8.5 version in AIX to backup TSM DB2 database by providing an option -d.

Is there a matching utility or tool provided by IBM in CMOD 10.1 version in linux to backup TSM DB2 database !

Any leads are welcome !

Regards,
Jinod.

Yeah, using the built-in scripts isn't great -- previous versions caused problems by not returning return codes when there were failures, making it hard to ensure the database backups were successful.

If you want to ensure your database backups are secure, you should be working with your DBAs to develop a backup & restore strategy that makes sense in your environment.  As much as ODUG is a great technical resource, this isn't something you should be asking someone on an internet forum to do for you -- it's important enough that someone inside your organization should be responsible for developing, monitoring, and testing it regularly!

I very much agree with Justin. Within my organisation I maintain both CmoD / db2 and TSM (spectrum protect) and I have 1-2 DR tests every year. Everybody can backup , but can you restore and how much dataloss in terms of hours is acceptable for you to loose ? That is more important!

This is the url to the backup db doc. https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSEQVQ_8.1.4/srv.reference/r_cmd_db_backup.html
