Is JAVA JRE Needed ?
« on: September 10, 2019, 08:51:01 AM »
Hi,

Hopefully quick question and probably just me, but hard to find exactly what is needed.
Don't need detail just simple yes/no or something

Is JAVA JRE needed on the WEB Server with Content Navigator and Content Integrator
Or is it just the SDK ... Appears install comes with JRE but assuming just for installation maybe ?

Then is the Java JRE needed on the User ( or Client ) PC ?
Or is that then depending on viewers configured for Navigator

Thanks
John

Since no one has answered yet, I'll give it a go.
You DO need Java on the server. I am uncertain if the JRE is enough, or if you need the full Java "SDK" or Java Enterprise package. (Both are downloadable)

On the client side, you should to the best of my knowledge NOT need any form of java installed, UNLESS you want to use the old/deprecated Java applets for printing etc (DON'T! Use the HTML5 versions instead!!!).

I hope and believe that this is fully correct and helps you out.
