Issue with CMOD admin client, application and pdf index
« on: November 05, 2019, 01:31:19 PM »
Hi,
It's been a while and since we are finally updating our v9.5 environment to v10.1 I'm sure I'll be back more. We successfully updated our Dev environment to v10.1 and in support of that installed the v10 desktop client and admin installs. I've gone through the process of copying the arspdf file off the server and copying it into my Acrobat plugins directory as per other posts and IBMs recommendation.
However we still have an issue where when you go to Applications, Update, Indexer Information and then change indexer from "ACIF" to "PDF" it greys out the "Modify with sample data". I do have Acrobat 15 and the arspdf.api is in plugins so I'm not sure what the issue is. I made another observation. When I did a registry check I see a bunch of entries of the arspdf.api under the v9.5 software but nothing under v10.1 so that seems a bit odd ? Any help is much appreciated .
Cheers,
Bruce

The 64-bit administrator client does not have support for PDF sample data. If you use the 32-bit administrator client you should still be able to markup PDF data in the graphical indexer.

Likewise, the 64-bit Windows client does not have support for seamless viewing of PDF data, but the 32-bit Windows client does.

Just had a couple of my developers, and myself, give the 32 bit admin client a try and it does work. Seems silly since we have all 64 bit platforms we have to use 32 bit installs but since it works we'll go with it. Thanks for the reply  !

Is there a plan to fix the issues with the 64-bit version of the Admin Client?

As I understand it, the problem is that Acrobat is still a 32-bit application. But I'm definitely not the expert in this area.

If the plan is "rely on Adobe to fix it", we're all doomed.  :D

I had a PMR open with IBM and just got the same thing back from them. They say the issue is Adobe as well. Not surprised. Over the years we've had several Adobe products here and it's got a colourful history of issues. Thanks for the replies.
