I went ahead and tested this myself as part of my latest WEBi with CMOD iSeries implementation. I started with installing WAS Windows Express v.6.1 and FP27, followed by ODWEK on a Windows 2003 SP2 server. When I went to install WEBi, the installation wizard did not find or recognize the WAS Express profile name so the installation would not complete.
I then simply upgraded WAS Express to WAS Base and the WEBi install wizard found the WAS profile and completed successfully and I now have a working WEBi system.
This note is from page 17 of the WEBi v.1.0.3 Planning, Installation Guide is exactly correct:
"Tip: Ensure that the application server profile is on a supported instance of
WebSphere Application Server. If the application server profile that you plan to
use for IBM WEBi is created in an unsupported version of WebSphere
Application Server, you cannot select that application server profile when you
install IBM WEBi."
