New CMOD installation
« on: September 23, 2010, 05:36:59 AM »
Hi

I was installing CMOD 8.4.1 today morning.
After the installation, I do not see the CMOD administrator software.
I just see the client, the Windows configurator.

I am unable to run the arsdb or the arssockd commands also.

I am doing the installation on Windows2003 server.
The database used is DB2.

Please suggest.

Thanks
Pankaj.

This is what the event log says on running the arsdb.

The description for Event ID 152 from source OnDemand for WinNT cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

C:\Program Files\IBM\OnDemand for WinNT\bin\arssockd.exe
arssrvr.c
8460

Hello Pankaj,

Well, how did you install CMOD on windows?
Have installed also the CMOD Client? Because during the installation of the CMOD Client, you must specify explicitely that you want also the admin client, otherwise you end up only with the client.

Normally, after the installation of CMOD Server, you have this "Configurator" icone. But in the Start Menu in the "OnDemand for WinNT" folder, you will see something like "Command line"
By clicking on that line, you will see a DOS windows and there you can write the arsdb, arssycr, etc...

probably you have already restarted the server, if not, please do so. Sometimes, some settings needs a fresh reboot.

Cheers,
Alessandro

Hi Pankaj.

You seem to be having a lot of trouble installing CMOD.

Please refer to the checklist in the Installation and Configuration Guide, Chapter 47, entitled "Checklist for installation on Windows".

By closely following the documentation, you can eliminate many of the issues you've experienced.  The checklist will help you find steps that you may have missed during your installation.

You can find Chapter 47 of the Installation Guide for 8.4.1 at:

Hey!!

The installation was successful today.
Every component is working fine.

I removed all the old installations including DB2.
Reinstalled everything over again.
Had to add a user to the system users and added it to the DB2ADMIN group.

Alessandro,

To answer your question, I had downloaded the CMOD software for Windows 2003 server from IBM website.
Then downloaded the compatible DB2 version from the same website.

Then I installed DB2 first, then OD server and finally the OD client.

Actually I have not used Windows 2003 server as I didn't had it available.
So I did the entire installation on a Windows Vista desktop system.... :)

Hope that's what your question was about.

Cheers
Pankaj.

Done a fresh installation on windows XP OS today with the steps as mentioned in the redbook.
Created ODADMIN user having system admin preveleges.
Installed DB2 with this user.
Then installed the windows configurator followed by OD client installation.
Then configured a new OD instance, created the Archive database, etc.
Every thing went fine.
Then started the library and object servers.
They also started.

After that I configured the application group, application, folder.
Then tried loading a pdf file.
The indexing worked file.
But the loading process doesn't work.
Here's the error log.

Hello Pankaj,

and what do you find in the "System Log" ??
Have you one defined?

Cheers,
Alessandro

Pankaj,
Are you using the PDF indexer here?

Alessandro,

The System Log also gives the same information.

Sandeep,

Yes in this case I am using a PDF indexer.

Thanks
Pankaj.

The System Log also gives the same information.

Sometimes you have around this line in the system log another info, with another message number, at the same moment (or the around the same second) which can give you more info on the error.
Did you check the Event Viewer in Windows does it give you some other hints?

For me the problem is not PDF Indexer, because the Indexer has runned successfully, and it's only after it has been archived, that you get the error.
Maybe doing a   "arsload ... -1 trace.log -2 15 " could help you in finding the problem if the other logs method don't work...

Cheers,
Alessandro
