No Documents Found bogus message???
« on: November 16, 2012, 07:40:31 AM »
Hi,  we ran into a strange occurence today...We have a report that is using the OD/390 indexer with the index style of DOC...We are running CMOD 8.4.1...The indexer is using a FLOAT trigger...Only indexing off of one field..Today we received an 88 msg saying there were no documents found...But in looking, we had data in the file but the data had changed positions throwing off the indexer....After the indexer was updated to the new positions, the file loaded successfully...Our question is why we received "No Documents Found"...We are thinking we should have gotten as message indicating an issue with the indexer (ie No Triggers found)...We periodically get the No Documents Found error and have always assumed it meant the file was empty....We are no wondering if this isn't always the case....Anyone else run into this kind of thing or know what caused it?

DDP - the OS/390 Indexer had a major rewrite between CMOD V7 and CMOD V8.4.0.

There have been several PTFs against it since then.

What's the highest PTF level on your system?

Ed,  I'll have to run that question by our systems person...We've been running 8.4.1 since the beginning..When we went to 8.4, we converted off of OnDemand on the mainframe to 8.4.1...IBM did most of the conversion..I know we ran into issues at first trying to convert to ACIF indexer because of the data and how it was formatted...Most reports were converted using OS390.....Looking to finally upgrade to 8.5.....

By any chance, do all of the "good" files have carriage control in them and the "bad" file not have carriage control?

Ed, All the files have good carriage control.....It was mentioned the "No Documents Found" message will get thrown if one or more of the  triggers is not found...That was what happened in the file we found...They had changed the data and moved the position of one of the triggers...We're just wondering how many other 'bogus'  NO DOCUMENTS FOUND messages, that we originally thought we true empty files, actually have legitimate data....Without manually checking each file or having the users complain about not seeing the data, we never know...
