AIX 6.1 Tl6 SP6 bug Information
« on: January 30, 2013, 08:32:50 AM »

We had an unexpected automatic reboot on our CMOD server.  This caused the Tier2 san to not be recognized when the system came back up.  The UNIX team was able to recover the SAN and restore the system.  The problem was caused by a bug in AIX 6.1 TL6 SP6 and IBM suggested that we upgrade the OS patch level on all of our 6.1 servers to AIX 6.1 TL6 SP9.

Here's some more info...

Russell's servers were upgraded to CMOD 8.5.0.6, and in the process, DB2 was upgraded to v9.7.  v9.7 wants AIX's IOCP feature to be enabled by default in order to use asynchronous I/O.  The bug affects AIX servers where IOCP is enabled.

So, before moving to newer versions of CMOD and DB2, please make sure you're at the latest levels of AIX!
