I am planning to install web 1.0.4 fp 4 this saturday Feb. 9.. and I need your expertise..
I receieve a document from IBM in installing the webi 104 fp 4 in a cluster environment.
We currently at WEBi 104 fixpack 2 running in a windows server environment.
I would appreaciate it if somebody can point to the right directions.

See below doc..
You must also copy the viewingservices directory and everything in the directory to all of the cluster member machines after IBM WEBi is installed on the deployment manager server. The viewingservices directory must be in the same directory on the cluster member machines as it is on the deployment manager server.

We are able to locate the viewingservices folder in the following location (C:\Program Files\IBM\WEBi\viewingservices ) on only one Server but we are unable to locate the viewingservices folder under the dmgr profile or anywhere in the application server? Where do we copy to what folder?

Planning for WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment
If you plan to use IBM? Web Interface for Content Management (IBM WEBi) with WebSphere? Application Server Network Deployment, you should install IBM WEBi to a dedicated deployment manager profile on the deployment manager server.
IBM WEBi should be the only application that is installed to the deployment manager profile because when IBM WEBi is installed to a deployment manager profile, the Java? Runtime Environment on the server is modified, which can affect other applications. Additionally, if you install more than one application to the profile, it decreases the scalability of each application.
Tip:  It is recommended that you install IBM WEBi on a dedicated application server profile. However, if you need to configure IBM WEBi to work with a custom application, you can install IBM WEBi on the same application server profile or you can configure access to IBM WEBi through a proxy server.
Supported WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment configurations
IBM WEBi supports only clusters in WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment. Unmanaged servers and managed servers that are not in the IBM WEBi cluster are not supported.
The IBM WEBi cluster can contain a mix of profile types. The cluster members can be custom profiles or application server profiles.
Restriction: All of the cluster members must be on the same operating system and IBM WEBi must be the only application on the cluster members.
On the deployment manager server, you must:
?   Ensure that there is a deployment manager profile that is dedicated to IBM WEBi
?   Define the IBM WEBi cluster
?   Install the connectors for the servers that you want to connect to
o   If you are connecting to Content Manager OnDemand servers, install the OnDemand Web Enablement Kit (ODWEK).
o   If you are connecting to Content Manager servers, install the IBM DB2? Information Integrator for Content Version 8 connector.
o   If you are connecting to multiple servers for federated search, install the IBM Content Integrator connectors for the servers that you want to connect to.
?    Install the database client, if you use the IBM DB2 Information Integrator for Content Version 8.3.+ connector
?   Install the IBM Content Integrator connectors for the servers that you want to connect to, if you plan to use IBM WEBi for federated search
Tip: Export your server connector configurations from your deployment manager server to your cluster member machines by using the IBM Content Integrator administration tool to ensure that the connector configurations are the same on the deployment manager server and your cluster member machines.
?   Install IBM WEBi to the deployment manager profile
?   If you create an IBM WEBi cluster node on the deployment manager server and you use IBM Content Integrator for federated search, create your data map definition.
Tip: Export your data map definitions from your deployment manager server to your cluster member machines by using the IBM Content Integrator administration tool to ensure that the data map definitions are the same on the deployment manager server and your cluster member machines.
On the machines that you plan to include in the IBM WEBi cluster, you must create your nodes and federate each node to the cell that is managed by the deployment manager.
On the cluster member machines, you must install the following software in the directory in which the software was installed on the deployment manager server:
?   ODWEK
?   IBM DB2 Information Integrator for Content Version 8 connector
Important: You must also install the DB2 Information Integrator for Content configuration files, cmbicmenv.ini and cmbicmsrvs.ini, on the deployment manager server. Ensure that the configuration files on the cluster members stay in sync with the configuration files that are on the deployment manager and the content servers.
?    The database client, if you use the DB2 Information Integrator for Content Version 8.3.+ connector
?   The IBM Content Integrator connectors for the servers that you want to connect to, if you plan to use IBM WEBi for federated search.
Tip: Export your server connector configurations from your deployment manager server to your cluster member machines by using the IBM Content Integrator administration tool to ensure that the connector configurations are the same on the deployment manager server and your cluster member machines.
?   The IBM Content Integrator data map definitions, if you plan to use IBM WEBi for federated search.
Tip: Export your data map definitions from the workstation where you define the data maps to your cluster member machines by using the IBM Content Integrator administration tool to ensure that the data map definitions are the same on all of your cluster member machines.
You must also copy the viewingservices directory and everything in the directory to all of the cluster member machines after IBM WEBi is installed on the deployment manager server. The viewingservices directory must be in the same directory on the cluster member machines as it is on the deployment manager server.
The following graphic shows how IBM WEBi and its prerequisite software should be installed on the deployment manager server and the cluster members and how IBM WEBi works with WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment.
Figure 1. IBM WEBi and prerequisite software installed on and working with WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment.
This graphic shows how IBM WEBi and its prerequisite software are installed with WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment to deliver content to a Web browser on a user's workstation. This graphic shows how the IBM WEBi nodes are grouped with the deployment manager to form a cluster. The required software and configuration of each cluster node is described in the surrounding text.

Important: If you want to customize your IBM WEBi configuration, you must make your configuration changes on the deployment manager.
After you complete your updates, run the IBM WEBi deployment script, WEBiconfig.bat update-files for Windows? or WEBiconfig.sh update-files on AIX? and Linux?, on the deployment manager server. If you used the configuration tool to make your changes, you can run the script from the configuration tool. If you do not run the IBM WEBi deployment script, the changes cannot be distributed to the cluster members.

Hello Reymiranda,

Well what kind of expertise do you need exactly?
Do you need to make an upgrade from 1.0.4 FP2 to 1.0.4 FP4?
Or do you need to install in a new server?
Is the server which will receive 1.0.4 FP4 also a Windows server?
Do you plan to install WEBi in 32 or 64bit?

If you receive a document from IBM, then why don't you ask them? (sorry to ask :-) but with your quite generic question and what you said... that is for nearly an automatic interrogation for me!)

Sincerely yours,
Alessandro

Hi AlessandroPerucchi, yes I did call IBM, but they gave us very vague answer, so I called again IBM and open this question in the forum.

I am upgrading from wbi 104 fb 2 to web 104 fb 4 in a cluster environment that was installed in windows 32 biit environment.

Thanks all - I did get a clarification from IBM.

They suggestted to copy C:\Program Files\IBM\WEBi\viewingservices  to other cluster.
