Application Cleanup
« on: June 24, 2014, 05:43:25 AM »
Does anyone know if there is a way to bring back a listing of Applications defined to CMOD with NO versions associated with them?...Currently we have over 39,000 Applications defined and over 3,400 Application Groups defined to our system...Allot of them came over with the conversion from ODE2.1 and we're guessing allot aren't even being used any longer and have no versions loaded to them...We'd like to get a listing so we can go back to the application owners to see if they are still valid and if not, remove them.

Ive had to do this before.

Command line ARSDOC GET against the system log where MSG NUM = 87 or 66, export them to mulitple spreadsheets, text to columns, sort, etc.  a few hours of work.

Alternately we have a script or procedure to validate if the AG tables are empty, if not get the recent load date (load date should be one of the indexes) which will give you if the application/AG is used.

A good start would be if we could first determine if there any Application Groups with nothing loaded to them...But with some Application Groups having multiple Applications defined to them, there still could be instances where there could be Application Groups having some Applications defined to them WITH version and WITHOUT versions...Need to find a way decipher between the two and once we find out what applications don't have versions, then we can ask the owners if the reports are still needed....

I had to do that, unfortunately it was a DREADFUL process of tracking down owners of reports, some 10+ years old, some lines of business didnt exist anymore.

I was pretty much looking at security, randomly picking out a userID and pinging them via lotus notes and saying "Hey, Jeff from the OnDemand team here, do you know anything about report XYZ1234"
