CMOD 8.5 + TSM
« on: January 23, 2018, 06:56:57 AM »
Does anyone remember what version of TSM was included with 8.5? I think it was 8.5, but i could be wrong.

Anyone remember?

There is no TSM v8.5.  (And now it's called 'Spectrum Archive' after v7.1.3, so there won't ever be a TSM v8...)

The CMOD v8.5 patches aren't on the IBM FTP site anymore, but if you can find a README file from v8.5, it'll tell you what the minimum supported versions are.

TSM 5.5 was probably the standard, as it was still extremely popular -- TSM 6.1 marked the transition to DB2 as the internal database, and the migrations were horrendous.  I'm still doing them today, because people were so resistant to move up to TSM 6.x.

I have migrated several TSM Servers from V5.5 to 6.1 and 7.1 without any issues. (also the one which I am using for CMOD)
The only issue was the duration of the migration.
If you TSM database is 100GB , count on duration for at least 12 hours to migrate the database from internal database to db2 database.

Kind regards.

Michel.

Just finished a TSM v5.5 to v7.1.6 upgrade this weekend...  On even modestly sized systems, you're going to need a LOT of transaction log space.

This is where I was going. Typo referring to TSM 8.5 included with CMOD 8.5, meant 5.5.
