Deleting Volumes from a TSM STGPOOL
« on: November 28, 2011, 12:01:40 PM »
I have 14,631 volumes I need to delete from a storage pool.  Is there a simple way to delete all of the volumes at one time?

Thanks,

Russell

Volumes will get deleted automatically when the data within them expires.  Why do you need to override that?  You risk deleting real data.

Hi Justin.

This is part of a cleanup process from where our TSM was restructured and this is data from old stgpools that are no longer used or required. This includes data from the previous setup where data was stored in a different Tier structure and also data that was being backed up from an alternate server which is no longer possible or required.

Thanks,

Russell

If I remember correctly, your storagepools were created with 'snaplock' deletion protection.  Unless you're talking about something else, those volumes can't be deleted until they expire naturally.
